No no no!
Don't get me wrong, I am not Legend!
Just
making a statement about the film “I am Legend”, that one where
Will Smith is the only survivor in New York, with his dog, and he
thinks he's the only healthy human being left in the world, and he's
surrounded by zombies that can't cope with day light.
Nice film
by the way.
But what I
want to talk about is what he mentions in the beginning of the film:
SCHEDULE !
He is
alone, nothing to do apart from surviving, and to do not go crazy, he
sets up his daily schedule; wake up, have breakfast, exercise, feed
the dog, get in his car, go to a blockbuster shop, search for films,
get to a pier and send a radio message, play golf, etc, etc, etc...
It sounds
crazy to do this things over and over again, but it's not about what
you are doing, it's all about keeping your mind busy, thinking that
you have something to do at that specific time, and then you have
something else to do afterwards.
When I saw
that on the film, I realized that I have a tendency for laziness, he
he, and I felt so many times in that “non-schedule” trap, and
then I felt bad for wasting my free time doing nothing.
For
example, if you work from Monday to Friday, 9 to 5... what do you do
on Saturday? You sleep!
Cause
there is no schedule, just do nothing, which is great as well... but
it's not what we supposed to do from our lives, right?
So here I
am at home, Saturday morning, woke up at 7am, I know it's crazy but I
can't sleep more than 5 hours a day, no schedule, and I'm thinking
what should I do from my day...
Well,
first of all, have a coffee, second thing, fire up my laptop,
third... write about what I'm writing now, then check the weather,
well, I don't need to do that to be honest, the weather will be crap
anyway, then... I have no idea... I just opened the “nothing box”
in my brain and I'm enjoying the feeling of having nothing to do!
OK, I'll
enjoy this feeling for a couple of minutes, then I'll feel guilty
about it, and I'll find something to do!
In the
end, it's all about schedule! So plan your schedule, put due dates to
your activities, and stick to them, otherwise we will all go crazy...
actually, I think we are already loosing our minds, but for the
opposite reason; We're putting so many things to do on our schedules,
and we know we're not gonna be able to make it, but we do it
anyway...
Now I’m
confused, should I have a schedule full of stuff to do... or should I
have not?
Oh God,
OK, for now, I’ll just have my fifth coffee of the morning and I'll
get back to bed, it's Saturday anyway, and I have no schedule for
today.
Laters!
Cheers!
